Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 26 Mar. 1908. Farmersburg column.
Charlotte Fuelling, nee Meier, was born in Destel, Westphalia, Germany, Feb. 2nd, 1833. She came with her parents to this country in the year 1850, coming direct to Clayton county. She was married to F. Vullgraff May 8th, 1857, who preceded her in death in 1872. On the 8th day, 1878, she was married to Louis Fuelling. On the 17th day of March, 1898, they moved from their farm to Farmersburg, where she has since resided. She labored diligently, seldom her hands rested; faithful in every respect she has been in poor health for the past year and the last week of her life was one of intense suffering. Finally, under the prayer and consolation of her pastor, surrounded by relatives, she passed away to the better world beyond on Tuesday morning, March 17th, at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 15 days. She leaves to mourn her departure a husband, one brother Louis Meier, of Garnavillo, one sister, four brothers-in-law, and many other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by the church and the Ladies Aid Society of which she was a devout member. The funeral services were held at the church Friday morning at ten o'clock, conducted by Rev. Gadow. The husband and relatives have the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement. Interment in Clayton Center cemetery.
