Lois Morarend, 78, of 2130 Lincoln Ave., died Sunday morning, Oct. 29, 2006, at home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 3200 Asbury Road. Burial will be in the Guttenberg Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., and after 9:30 a.m. Wednes-day at the church.

She was born on Jan. 22, 1928, in rural Clayton County, daughter of Wilbur and Pearl (Kelly) Peake. She married Willard William Morarend on Jan. 13, 1947, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg.

She attended rural schools in Clayton County and graduated from Central High School in Elkader.

After teaching country school, she was a housewife and farmed with her husband for many years. When they moved to Dubuque, she owned and operated Packers Tap for five years and then worked at the Iowa State Liquor store for 15 years.

Surviving are her husband, Willard; five children, Joyce (Terry) Williams, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Butch (Cindy) Morarend, of St. Louis, Judell Anderson, of Minnetonka, Minn., Jacqueline (David) Meyer, of Monona, Iowa, and Julie Segebarth, of Apple Valley, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene (Merlin) Geuder, of Coralville, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant sisters.

Memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque.
