Lawrence "Joe" Miller
Lawrence "Joe" Miller, 85, of Guttenberg died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001 at the Guttenberg Care Center.
Services were conducted by Rev. Harold McMillin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at St. John Lutheran Church. Burial was in Guttenberg City Cemetery with the following pallbearers: Bob Clinton, Scott Miller, Matt Witham, Eric Miller, Glen Witham and Travis Witham.
Visitation was Thursday at the Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Guttenberg.
Lawrence "Joe" Miller was born Thursday, June 22, 1916, on the family farm near Elkport, son of Matthew and Anna (Wentz) Miller. Joe received his education locally; served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and farmed with his family for many years. He enjoyed his farm work, hunting and fishing.
On June 22, 1940, he was united in marriage to Cleva Clinton at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elkport.
Survivors include one son, William (April) Miller of Prescott, Ariz.; four grandchildren; Jodean (Mike) Bown, Jamie (Jim) Burgin, Eric (Lanette) Miller and Scott Miller; four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Allison Miller and Robert and Kelsey Brown; one sister, Ivanelle (Cecil) Stone of Guttenberg; one brother, Lowell (Dorothy) Miller of Fayette, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one son, Larry; one brother, Bill; and one daughter-in-law, Charlene Harbaugh.
