After more than fifty-five years residence in Iowa, Mrs. J. F. Beckman, aged 84 years, died Wednesday afternoon at the house of her son, Henry C. Beckman, at Emmetsburg, Iowa. Mrs. Beckman was born in Germany but came to America with her husband about sixty-five years ago, locating first in Ohio and removing to Clayton county, Iowa, in the early 50's, where they were among the early settlers. She was the mother of a family of eight sons, six of whom survive her: H. F., of Manila, Ia.; Henry C. and John H., of Emmetsburg and William, Herman H. and Chris, of Des Moines. The body will be brought to Garnavillo for burial.

(Note:WPA records record her as A'na Marie Beckman, 1824 - 1908, buried in Garnavillo cemetery. The IGPP shows her and J. F. Beckman's gravestone in Garnavillo cemetery.)
