Lois Eileen Duwe, age 67, of Guttenberg, IA, died Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital.

She was born on January 30, 1951, in Oelwein, the daughter of Leo and Betty (Homewood) Opitz. Lois graduated from Starmont High School in 1969.

June 20, 1976, she was united in marriage with John Duwe at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Guttenberg.

Lois worked various jobs in the Guttenberg area, including Brown’s Sales and Leasing. Most recently, she managed The Landing Inn, where she was a devoted employee who valued those she worked with and became friends with many new people along the way.

In her free time, Lois enjoyed reading, fishing, watching movies, playing mini golf, going out to eat with close friends, and monthly weekend outings with her mother and sisters. Lois was always eager to pull out a map to find a new destination for a getaway with her husband. Most of all, Lois loved spending time visiting her children and grandchildren.

Lois will be forever loved and cherished by her husband John; daughters, Lisa (Ryan) Aulwes and Lora Duwe both of Oconomowoc, WI; mother Betty Opitz of Lamont; 3 grandchildren, Nathan, Alayna & Ashley Aulwes; siblings, Lee (Lila) Opitz of Aurora, Linda Steffen of Independence, Lonnie (Bonnie) Opitz of Aurora, Lana (Mark) Moeller of Strawberry Point, Larry Opitz of Arlington; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her father, Leo Opitz.
