Last Thursday morning when the Lutheran bells tolled it was soon passed from one to another that Mrs. Wilhelmina Neuman, aged 79 years had passed away. Wilhelmina Matzkins was born in Didlaken county of Insterburg in East Prussia, Dec. 28, 1847. In 1878 she was united in marriage to August Neuman. Soon after their marriage they came to the United States and came to Iowa and settled on a farm near Aurora. To this union seven children were born, Margaret A. dying in infancy. Mr. Neuman died Oct. 30, 1896. In 1901 Mrs. Neuman left the farm and moved to town where she has since lived. She attended the Lutheran church and was a firm believer in the teachings. The children left to mourn her loss are: Mrs. Emma Seitz and Mrs. Bertha Warnecke of Chicago, Mrs. Wilhelmina Tetzloff of Fredricksburg, August Neuman of Parko, Wyoming, Mrs. Elizabeth Kinkade of Boston, Ill and Robert Neuman of Oelwein.
Funeral services were held from her home and to the Lutheran church Saturday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. M. O. Johr. Interment took place in our beautiful cemetery.
