PIONEER RESIDENT GOES TO REWARD
_______Florenz Osius Died Wednesday October 5th.
Florenz Osius died at his home in this city, Wednesday evening, October 5th at 5:45 at the ripe old age of eighty six years, eight months and seventeen days. The immediate cause of death was due to the infirmities of old age, the contributory cause being dysentery. He had been confined to his bed only a few days, previous to which time he had enjoyed fair health.
Florenz Osius was born at Vogelsburg, Germany, Jan. 18, 1824; was united in marriage to Julia Panse, at Eastor, Pa., in 1851. Mrs. Osius died in 1879. To this union several children were born, only one of whom still survives, William Osius of Newark, N. J.
Florenz Osius came to America in 1848 and to Guttenberg in 1855, where he has resided continuously ever since. he was a bricklayer by trade, but retired from active labor some years ago. He was a pioneer resident of Guttenberg, a man who had a pleasant word for everybody; an ardent socialist and respected by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held from the late residence, Friday, October 7 at 2:00 p. m. Interment in City cemetery.
