Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 29 May 1919.
Nils Johnson was born March 2_th, 1850, at Hed_______, Norway. There he was baptized and confirmed. He came to this country in 1872 and settled down on a farm about one and a half miles south of St. Olaf, where he has lived ever since, except four years he lived in Farmersburg. On Sept. 4th, 1876 he was married to Miss Sigri Larson. The marriage was blessed with seven children, one of whom is dead. Nils Johnson was a good citizen and a man that thought much of his church.
He has been sick for some time, especially since Christmas. Everything was done for him that could be done, but nevertheless, death came and took him away last Saturday evening, May 24th. He died in peace, well satisfied to leave, in hope for a better home. He leaves his dear wife, six children, viz: Albert Johnson, Henry Johnson, Nickoloi Johnson, Mrs. Anna West, Johanna Johnson, and Oscar Johnson. Fourteen grandchildren and many friends mourn his departure. The funeral service took place last Tuesday afternoon and was very well attended. The pastor of the Norway Congregation, Rev. N. Arveson, officiated.
"Peace be with our friend."
