Fannie Louisa Simar was born in Bradford county, Pa., Oct. 16th, 18_2, the daughter of Ephriam and Fannie Louia Simar, and died at her home in Elkader on Friday morning, Sept. 12th, at 6:30 o'clock, after a sickness of about ten days duration.
In the year 1852 she, with her parents, came west, locating in Fayette county, and in the year 1869 was married to Wm. H. Crowe, after which they moved to Clayton county, where they have since resided.
At an early age she united with the Disciple church and remained a constant follower to the last.
She is survived by her husband and five children; Fred L. Crowe, of West Union; Fanny, now Mrs. Jesse B. Turner, living on the old home farm south of Elkader; Willette, now Mrs. H. G. Cook, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Eva and Ella at home; also by one brother and three sisters and twelve grandchildren.
The children were all present at the funeral with the exception of Willette, who was unable to attend on account of sickness.
The relatives present from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Crowe and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hunsberger, of West Union, and Mr. and Mrs. John Waldron, of Elgin.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. H. Franke. There was a simple service at the house at 2:00 o'clock, after which the remains were taken to the Congregational church where Rev. Franke preached the funeral sermon. Interment was in the East Side cemetery.
