Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 27 Feb. 1913. Strawberry Point column.
The town was full of sadness Thursday evening and many a heart was moved to tears as the bells of the German Lutheran church tolled out their sad message announcing the death of Mrs. Boyd.
Mrs. Boyd was a daughter of Ernest and Augusta Schoeppe and was born in this city August 16, 1884. She was baptized soon after her birth and was confirmed in the German Lutheran church on Palm Sunday 1898.
She was a graduate of the Strawberry Point High School with the class of 1901.
On May 1st, 1912, she was united in marriage to Ray O. Boyd.
She leaves, besides her husband, to mourn her sad death, her mother, two brothers, Carl, of this city, and Herman, of Arlington, and one sister, Mrs. J. C. Wilkens, of Arlington. A little over a week before her death she was taken sick with appendicitis and peritonitis to which she succumbed Thursday, February 13, 1913, at 5:45 p.m., being 28 years, 5 months and 27 days old. The funeral services were held at the home Sunday forenoon at eleven o'clock, conducted by Rev. Graf, and the remains laid to rest in our beautiful cemetery.
(Note: An apparent reference to Bertha Boyd, 1884 - 13 Feb. 1913, shown in WPA records as buried in Strawberry Point cemetery.)
