Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 12 Dec. 1907. Littleport column and Elkport and Vicinity column.

Mrs. Fred Behrens died at her home north of town last Thursday, after a lingering illness extending over the past two years. Mrs. Behrens was thirty-seven years old at her death and leaves a host of friends who deplore her early taking away and who also extend their sympathy to the bereaved husband who patiently watched and waited and furnished all the help possible to alleviate the suffering of his helpmate, all of which proved fruitless as the All-Wise Ruler of the universe ordained otherwise and she quietly passed away. The funeral was held at Elkport Saturday from the Catholic church.
-------

Mrs. Fred Behrens, who had been suffering for some time with consumption, died at her home near Communia, Thursday, Dec. 8th. The funeral was held at the Catholic church at this place Saturday and was largely attended. It had been only a month since her sister, Mrs. Molly Schmill, had died from the same sickness.

(Note: An apparent reference to Mary Behrens, 1870 - 4 Dec. 1907, shown in WPA records as buried in St. Michael's Cemetery, Elkport.)
