On Saturday morning Michael Schmidt breathed his last after a prolonged illness. The immediate cause of his death was cancer of the liver. He reached the age of seventy and is survived by his wife and one son, Carl, also an adopted daughter, Pearl. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. K. W. Braun, of St. Peters church Monday afternoon and the remains were interred in the old cemetery.
