Elkader Register, Thur., 27 June 1907.

At the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Gleason, in Elkader, about 10:00 o'clock Friday morning, June 21st, 1907, their daughter Rose passed away. Since September last she has been a great sufferer, with what was thought to have been a tumor at the base of the brain, which had caused her to become blind. She was born in Elkader, March 13th, 1894, and was in her 14th year.

Rose was a bright girl, who, by her pleasant disposition, had drawn to herself not only the great affection of her own family, but also a large circle of young friends, by whom she will be sincerely mourned and missed.

The funeral was held Sunday at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Rev. J. F. Reilly officiating. The honorary pall bearers were school girl friends: Julia Clair, Florence Molumby, Rose Farrell, Genevieve Mahr, May Liddy and Mary Canada. Kathryn Humphrey acted as cross bearer and Margaret McLaughlin and Kathleen Fitzpatrick as angels. The active pall bearers were cousins of Rose: Carroll, Ray, Harry and Robt. Quinn, and James and Robt. Byrnes.
