Elkader Register, Thur., 30 May 1907. Volga City Views column.

The sad accident that occurred to Andrew Melville Duff, in being kicked by a horse, resulted in his death about 7:00 o'clock Saturday evening, May 25th, 1907, at his home in Highland twp. Mr. Duff was born in Pennsylvania, Dec. 19th, 1857, and came to Clayton county with his parents in the late 50's and settled in Highland township, where he has since resided.

He was a man whom the community will miss in its affairs. For the past ten years he was the township assessor, and for several years the Superintendent of the Highland Sunday School, and an active member of the Presbyterian church. At his death he was the President of the Farmer's Co-operative Creamery Co., of Volga, a good neighbor he will be mourned by many outside his immediate family.

He is survived by his wife and five children, Mary Bell, Milton, Ralph, Archie and Ruth; and three brothers, Robert, Thomas and William; and three sisters, Marian, Mrs. Samuel Roys, of Highland, and Mrs. McKees, of Haskins, Neb.

The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church at Volga Wednesday afternoon, the services being conducted by Revs. I. M. B. Smith and Wm. McCuskey, the interment being in the Volga cemetery.
