Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 11 May 1916. Guttenberg column.
On Friday morning, April 28th, 1916, at 11 o'clock, at her home in this city, occurred the death of Mrs. Julius Woock, after a lingering illness and at the age of 60 years, 1 month and 17 days.
Deceased was born at Rheimbeier, Germany, on March 11th, 1856, and later came to the United States. She was married to a Mr. Herman, who preceded her in death many years ago, and in the year 1881 she was again married at Glen Haven, Wis., to Mr. Julius Woock, who also preceded her in death on July 25th, 1914.
She had been a resident of Guttenberg for many years. She was a patient sufferer and had not given up hopes for recovery until the Angel of Death called her to that world where there is no more suffering, but happiness forever. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done for her to ward off death, but all to no avail.
She was an ambitious woman and a kind and true mother and friend.
Her death is deeply mourned by five sons, George and Fred Herman, Henry and Clarence Woock, of Guttenberg, and Rudolph Woock, of Littleport; five daughters, Mrs. Fred E. Wolf and Miss Katie Woock, of Guttenberg; Mrs. Henry Roeder, of Elkport; Mrs. Emil Kurtz. of McGregor, and Mrs. Chas. Hildebrandt, of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; a number of grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Henry Shettinger, of Bridgewater, S.D.; two brothers, Henry and Peter Amann, and a large number of other relatives and friends, by whom she will be sadly missed. Funeral services were held at her late home in this city on Monday afternoon, Attorney Chas. E. Scholz officiating.
Interment was made in the City Cemetery. The funeral was largely attended.
