Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 19 Jan. 1911. Strawberry Point column.

Elizabeth Reynoldson was born in the village of Mucker, Swalesdale, Yorkshire, England, Dec. 1, 1825, where she was married to Thomas Alderson Dec. 9, 1843. With her husband and five children Mrs. Alderson emigrated to the United States in 1854, settling in Dubuque, Iowa. When Mr. and Mrs. Alderson arrived at Dubuque they had lost two of the treasures they had brought with them from the Motherland. One slept in New York, the other in Ohio. In 1860 they moved to Clayton County, which place has been the continual home of the deceased. Mother Alderson had eleven children, four of them preceded her to the land where "tears are forever wiped away." June 7, 1901 her helpmate was translated. With her daughter Phyllis she spent the remaining days in the home where she had lived the past twenty-four years. The remaining seven children are Phillis; Edward, of Long Beach, Cal.; Thomas, of Fayette; John R. of Strawberry Point; Mrs. Eleanore Alderson, of Vera, Ill.; Dr. James, of Dubuque; and Miles, of Stanley, Wis.; nineteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who with a host of friends will look forward to the happy reunion in the land of cloudless day. About one o'clock in the morning of January 4th, her frail barge entered the haven of eternal safety.

(Note: The given name Phyllis/Phillis was spelled both ways in the article.)
