On Monday morning Richard, the 13-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mentzel of Cox Creek township, was instantly killed by the accidental discharge of a shotgun, the charge taking effect in his forehead. Richard was born in Cox Creek township on March 13, 1898, and had reached the age of 13 years, 6 months and 5 days. He leaves to mourn his untimely death his parents, two brothers and two sisters, besides other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock from the German church in this city, Rev. Franke officiating. Interment in the East Side cemetery. The family have the sympathy of their many friends in this their hour of sorrow.
