Elkader Register & Argus, Thur., 7 Dec. 1911. Guttenberg column.
On Tuesday night at Dubuque, in a hospital, occurred the death of Miss Minnie Fassbinder, of Jefferson township, after a lingering illness. Deceased was about 11 years of age at the time of her death and was born in Jefferson township and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gottfried Fassbinder. She was operated on for appendicitis several weeks ago, and seemed to be recovering until recently, when she took a relapse and on Monday she was taken to Dubuque for medical treatment, where she died in a hospital. All that loving relatives and friends could do, and all that medical knowledge could suggest was given her to restore her to health, but all to no avail. She leaves to mourn her untimely death her parents, four sisters, one brother and a large circle of relatives and friends, by whom she will be sadly missed, as she was a kind and true child and sister, and was loved by all who knew her. The remains arrived here from Dubuque Wednesday and the funeral was held at St. Mary's church Friday morning, Rev. Father Brinkman officiating. Interment in the Catholic cemetery.
