Mrs. H. J. Overbeck (nee Marguerite Dupernell) passed away at her home in this city on Monday morning, after a several weeks' illness with blood poisoning and had attained the age of 66 years, six months and 10 days. Deceased was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, May 5, 1860, where she spent her entire life. On June 12, 1894, she was united in marriage with H. J. Overbeck of Guttenberg. Mrs. Overbeck was a kind and loving wife, mother and friend, her greatest pleasure in life at all times being to do acts of kindness for her family and friends. She was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church and the Ladies Aid society of said church. During her illness she was a patient sufferer and had hopes for recovery, until the Angel of Death called her to the Great Beyond, where there is no more suffering, but joy and happiness forever. All that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done for her to save her life, but all to no avail. Her death is deeply mourned by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Hilda MacGregor of Madison, S.D.; Mrs. Etta Geuder of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Miss Mertie Overbeck at home; one son Walter Overbeck, who is attending a law college at Chicago; two grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends, who will all sadly miss this worthy wife and mother and true Christian woman. One son and one daughter have preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at St. John's Evangelical church on this (Thursday) afternoon, Rev. Emil Lehne officiating. The body was laid to rest in the city cemetery. The funeral was very largely attended which showed that deceased was held in high esteem and loved by all who knew her.
