Rudolph Moser, one of Clayton county's highly respected pioneer residents, passed away on Sunday evening at his home in Mallory township at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 24 days. Deceased was born in Switzerland on May 28, 1861, coming to America with his parents in 1868 and settling in Clayton county, where he spent the remainder of his life, being successfully engaged in farming in Mallory township for many years. He was married at Elkader, to Miss Mary Schrunk of Mallory township in 1888. Mr. Moser was an ambitious man during his entire life, and he was a kind and true husband, father, brother and friend, loved by all who knew him. His death is deeply mourned by his widow, four sons, Francis of Savanna, Ill., Thomas, Ralph and Julius of Mallory township; two daughters, Mrs. Ella Troester of Millville township and Mrs. Eva Sartwell of Savanna, Ill.; seven grandchildren: five brothers, Robert, Nick, Fred and Alex Moser of Osterdock and John of Independence, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Friedlein of Junction City, Wis., and many other relatives and friends who will all sadly miss this good and true Christian man. Funeral services were held at the Bethel church in Mallory township on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Kress of Independence, Mo., officiating. The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near.
