MONONA: Phillp E. Ulish, aged 76, died Wednesday evening, after several months' illness. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lizzie Reidel Ulish; two daughters, Mrs. Albert C. Schroeder of Arlington, and Mrs. Stanley Veit of Marquette, who assisted Mrs. Ulish in caring for her father; three sons, Charles C. Ulish of Elkader, John G. Ulish of McGregor, and Herbert Ulish of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Louis Ulish of Monona; and four sisters, Mrs. Susan Tayek of Postville, Mrs. Catherine Johnson of Atlantic, Ia., Mrs. Lovine Kruse of Chicago, and Miss Mary Ulish of Monona; and nine grandchildren, Duane Schroeder of Monona, Dorothy and Donna Mae Schroeder of Arlington, Phylis and Stanley Veit, Jr., of Marquette, Roy and Helen Ulish of McGregor, Eunice Ulish of Elkader, and Pauline Ulish of Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Ulish was all his life a resident in or near Monona, having been born and reared on the Ulish homestead, south of Watson, where Mr. and Mrs. Ulish lived after their marriage and reared their family on the farm, later moving to Monona where for a number of years Mr. Ulish was the owner and proprietor of the Monona livery stable and barns, later retiring. He was a good neighbor and friend, a good father and husband and will be missed by his loved ones.
Funeral services were held at two o'clock Saturday afternoon from the Ulish home in Monona, Rev. Louis H. Joslin officiating, with burial in the city cemetery.
