The death of J. M. Chapman, a prosperous farmer, occurred at his home six miles north-west of town Thursday evening following a stroke which occurred in the afternoon.
James Marion Chapman was born in Beetown, Wis., Jan. 8, 1873. He came to Iowa in 1896 and located on a farm near Strawberry Point. Dec. 14, 1910, he was united in marriage to Miss Ella Manchester. Since their marriage they have resided on the farm where his death occurred. To this union four children were born, Marion, Bernard, Bessie and Mary Ann. Mr. Chapman was a good neighbor and a loving husband and father. His deeds of kindness will never be forgotten. Funeral services occurred at the home Saturday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Chamberlain, pastor of the M.E. church at Arlington. Interment took place in the Strawberry Point cemetery. He is survived by his wife and four children besides other relatives and a large circle of friends.
