Mary Clara Fahling died at her home in Guttenberg Saturday, Feb. 20th, of bronchial pneumonia, after an illness of only a few days. Funeral services were held from the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran church, Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. G. Bunge officiating. Interment was made in the Guttenberg city cemetery.
Mary Greive was born October 27th, 1847, at Osnobruck, Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Greive of that place. She received her early education in Germany, coming to this country in 1869. On Feb. 15, 1870, she was married to Henry Fahling at Guttenberg.
To this union two children were born: Mrs. F. N. Friedlein of Guttenberg and a son, William, who preceded her in death. Besides her daughter, she is survived by two brothers, William of Perry, Ill., and Fred of Hartford, S.D. After coming to this country she spent all of her life in Clayton county with the exception of one year when she lived at Springfield, Ill.

Friedlein; also surviving were five granddaughters, Mrs. Effie Kimball, Mrs. Hilda Kasper, and Mrs. Irene Abel, of Guttenberg, and Mrs. Florence Hostettler of Waterloo, and Mrs. Ora Tangeman of Jefferson township: two great-grandchildren.)
