Elkader Register, Thur., 14 Feb. 1901. Volga City Views column.

Arthur Charles Keeling was born in Youngstown, N.Y., June 1, 1860, and died at Greeley, Colo., Feb. 7, 1901, at the age of 40 years, 8 months and 6 days. While yet a small boy his parents moved to Iowa, and settled on the Oak Grove Farm, west of Volga, where he passed his boyhood days and grew to manhood. Choosing the hardware as his trade he spent several years in Spencer, Iowa, and in 1895 purchased the business in Volga. In the autumn of the same year he married Miss Elizabeth Andrews and for four years they made their home in this place. On account of ill health in 1899 he moved with his family to Greeley, Colo., hoping that the mountain climate would restore his usual health and vigor, but this was not to be for the disease had fastened itself too deeply in his system; and after severe but patient suffering during the last few weeks of his life, God called him to his eternal home.

For eleven years a member of the Methodist Episcopal church he was especially active in Sunday school and Epworth League work, filling the highest offices in the local school and chapter in his home church at Volga. His life was one of truest Christian service and always faithful to his Father's bidding, he lived for His honor and glory. His home life was one of special happiness and true Christian love. As a friend he was kind and helpful and won the love and respect of all who knew him. During his last night of suffering he called his loved ones to him, and with a face illuminated with heavenly light, told them he was going home. Conscious to the last, he bade them goodbye and peacefully passed away, a triumphant victor of Christian faith.

He leaves a wife and one boy besides four brothers and sisters to mourn his absence, but they grieve not as those having no hope for they know that as Christ rose victorious over death, so shall those who die in Him.

The following article is taken from the Greeley (Colorado) Sun: "Arthur Charles Keeling, for the past year and a half a resident of this vicinity, died at his home just west of town Thursday, Feb. 7th, of tuberculosis. Mr. Keeling was born June 1st, 1860, in New York state. He was engaged in merchandising in Iowa, which he had to give up, and came here for his health, but it appears to have been too late. Services will be held at the undertaking rooms of Bills' Bros., this afternoon at 5:30, and the remains will be taken this evening to Volga, Iowa, for interment, his wife accompanying them."

The funeral occurred Tuesday and was one of the largest ever held in Volga. Rev. Fleming of Fayette, conducted the service.
