Died- At his home in this city, Sunday, April 21st, Thomas Monahan, aged 77 years. He was born in county Galway, Ireland, in 1821. At the age of 19 he entered the 61st infantry of Her Majesty's service and remained there eleven years. He served through the Pungal campaign in India and received medals for personal acts of bravery during the siege of Delhi and battle of Lucknow. He was married in 1859 to Anna Haney, and to them were born eight children, four being born in Ireland and four in America. They came to America in 1866 and settled in Madison, Wis., where they lived one year and then moved to Prairie du Chien. He lived here one year then bought a home at the West Yards where he passed the remainder of his days. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and seven children, four of whom reside in this city. The funeral services were held at St. Mary's church Tuesday, Father O'Donnell officiating. The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community in this hour of sorrow.
