Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 14, 1959, at Witt's chapel at 9:30 a.m. to St. Joseph's Church at 10 a.m. for Mrs. Otto Gusta. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. D. A. Gorman officiated. Burial was at the East Side cemetery and pallbearers were Martin Penneton, Fred Seybert, Ed Leonard, Henry Possehl, Ambrose Whittle and Albert Geno.
Antonette Muench Gusta, daughter of William and Dina Muench, was born April 22, 1877, in Germany and died at her home in Elkader Monday, Oct. 12, 1959.
In 1881 she came to America with her parents and they made their home near Garnavillo.
She was married to Otto Gusta at Dubuque in 1900. In the early years of their marriage they spent some time in the Dakotas, returning to Clayton County in 1912. In 1930 they moved to Elkader, where she resided until her death.
She was a member of the St. Joseph's Church, Elkader.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Dina Meenan. Both died in 1957.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Leona Gottschalk, Elkader, and Mrs. Evelyn Glawe, St. Olaf; three sons, Realto Gusta, Davenport, Elmer Gusta, Strawberry Point, and Fred Gusta, Cedar Rapids; one brother, William Muench, Elkader; eleven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
