Died near Elkader, Aug. 1st, 1878, Charles DeSadler, of sun stroke, age 50 years.
Mr. DeSadler was born in Belgium, January 16th, 1828, emigrated to the United States in 1847 and spent a great part of the time in traveling over the States until 1851, when he moved to Brookville, Jefferson county, Pa.
In the summer of 1864 he came to McGregor, where he made many warm friends. In 1873 he came to Elkader to live, and about four years ago he moved to the country, a short distance from town.
He leaves three sons and two daughters, to mourn his loss, his wife having precede him in her death. In his death the community has lost an honest, upright man, one who has even made it part of his business, “To do to others as he wished to be done by.”
I hereby wish to tender my thanks to the friends who so willingly and kindly lent a helping hand during Mr. DeSadler’s sickness and death. Mrs. M.M. S.
