Elkader Register, Thur., 25 Apr. 1878.

Miss Jennie Thomas, of McGregor, niece of O. C. Buck's, died on Friday last. Jennie was a young lady of great promise. with pleasant, winning manners. By hard study she had acquired a competent education, and during the Institute, held in this place last year, was one of the members that won the esteem of the teachers and professors. She taught at Cresco, which her failing health obliged her to give up. A lady in every sense of the word, a companion loved and admired for her many noble qualities of heart and mind. Her loss is a sore affliction to the widowed mother, the brothers, sister and relatives. Funeral services were held Sunday morning, Rev. J. W. Clinton officiating. On Monday her remains were taken to Madison, Wis., to be deposited by the side of her father, who preceded her several years ago.
