Richard Sears Rites Held in Marion
Richard R. Sears, 78, of Guttenberg formerly of Marion died at 3 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 1988 at Lutheran Medical center in Denver, Colo., following a sudden illness.
Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion by the Rev. Jim Rozendaal of Guttenberg United Methodist Church. Burial was in Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
He was born Nov. 26, 1909 at Marion. On Aug. 18, 1933 at Iowa City, he was married to Lucille Nost. For 25 years, Mr. Sears was a sales representative for Gates City Steel, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Guttenberg, past patron of Pearl Chapter No. 143, O.E.S. in Guttenberg, past master of Trojan Lodge No. 548, A.F. & A.M. in Marion, and was state secretary of High Twelve Club of Iowa for 13 years.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Lucille, are a daughter, Nancy Zwanziger of Arvarda, Colo.; a son, Richard P. Sears of Columbia, S.C.; four granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.
Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Guttenberg, or Pearl Chapter No. 143, O.E.S., Guttenberg.
