Efrasini Wisbar - Kolba was born March 27th, 1847 in Neu Griendan East Prussia, Germany. At the age of 29 she was married to the mason August Kolba of Obschruten. Nine years later she emigrated with her famiy and arrived at Boston October 17, 1885. From here they continued their journey until they arrived at Marion Junction, South Dakota. Here she lived on a farm up to the year 1895, when she moved onto a farm north of Monona.

In the year 1907 she visited her sister in the old fatherland. Four years later she retired from farmwork, moving to Monona, where she had her home for the rest of her life. About [17 or 19] years ago she was operated upon for some eye trouble, but her sight failed until she was in absolute darkness.

By baptism and confirmation she had entered the Evangelical Lutheran church, and was true to her to the last. She was a regular communicant at the altars of this church until about eight or nine years ago when total blindness made it so very difficult to attend divine services. She did not take part at any time in the different activities of the church, however we found her to be thankful in her own way for every good word from the Word of Life. We hope it enkindled in her the Christian faith in Christ as her Savior and that she now sees Him as He is.

She is the mother of one daughter and four sons. The daughter died at an early age, one of her sons passed away at the age of 22 years and nine months. At the time of her own departure she was 75 years and not quite 11 months. Mourners are her husband, August Kolba, the three sons, Fred, Gustav, and Otto Kolba and their wives and children.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in English and German, February 26. Herold Daugs, student of theology conducting the English part of the service. Her body was interred in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran cemetery. Herold Daugs conducting the burial service.
