Beacom, Anna (Sharp) 1827-1923

Clayton, Ia., Feb. 24 - Mrs. Anna Beacon [sic], one of Clayton county's oldest residents died at her home here yesterday at the age of 96 years. She had been in failing health since last July, when she suffered a fall.

Mrs. Beacon, whose maiden name was Anna Sharp, was born in Ireland on June 6, 1827, and came to America when a young girl. She married Mr. Beacon in New York City and later they came to Iowa to reside.

Surviving the aged pioneer are five children, 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church here Sunday afternoon and the body will be shipped to Fayette for interment.

Note: Surname is Beacom, as on her gravestone. Husband George Beacom died in 1907. They are buried in Grandview cemetery, Westfield township, Fayette county, Iowa.
