Paul Schweizer
Paul J. Schweizer, 64, of rural Rudd, died Nov. 23, at his home of natural causes.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. The Rev. Melvin Reth conducted the services. Burial was in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens, Charles City, where military rites were conducted by the Rudd AmVets.
He was born Jan. 23, 1925 in Floyd County, the son of William and Dottie (Krambeer) Schweizer. He graduated from Rudd High School in 1942 and attended a technical school in Minneapolis for metal working. He also served in the Army during World War II.
He married Frances O'Rourke on Oct. 6, 1947 in Waterloo. He lived and farmed in Rudd for 40 years. He worked at Hellwood Trailers from 1969 to 1973 and also did carpentry, welding and electrical work in the surrounding areas.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rudd, the Rudd AmVets, was active for seven years on the Floyd County Fair Board, active for six years on the Floyd County Extension Council, and was a former assistant Scoutmaster.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, rural Rudd; 3 sons: Michael, Mason City; Randall, Marble Rock and Stanley, Rudd; a daughter, Jackie Schmitt, Floyd; a brother, Francis Schweizer, Rockford; a sister, Mrs. Howard (Gertrude) Smith, Rudd and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son Kenneth; one granddaughter, Kristin Schweizer and a sister, Lois Huxsol.
He was a cousin of the Krambeers of Luana and the Ellises of Postville.
