The death of Mrs.. S. H. Lathrop, nee Ruth Gifford, aged 85 years, occurred last Thursday evening at the home of her son, Lloyd, on Commercial street. Funeral services occurred at the home Tuesday afternoon conducted by Rev. Maxwell, pastor of the Congregational church, of which the deceased was a member for a number of years. Interment took place in the local cemetery. Besides her husband she leaves three daughters and two sons: Mrs. C. R. Martin, of Dumont; Mrs. C. A. Walm, of Palmer; Mrs. F. W. Miles, of Stockton, Cal.; Lloyd, of this place; and Guy, of Arlington. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. J. W. Miles, of Stockton, Cal.; Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Martin and family, of Dumont; and Mrs. C. A. Walm and family, Mr. and Mrs. I. N. Brown, of Palmer; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lathrop, of Yale; and Miss Amy Moss, of Cedar Rapids.
