Died at Elkader, Iowa of paralysis, on Monday morning July 7th, 1873, Polly Barnes wife of George W. Stephenson, aged 69 years.

Mrs. Stephenson was born at Grand Isle, Vt., in 1804 and departed this life on her 69th birthday. She was one of the old settlers of the County, and especially endeared to those who shared the early pioneer labors and hardships.

Clayton County Journal: July 16, 1873

They are in the 1850 Census for Boardman Township.
Three young children Wm, George and Mary
Two elderly Stephenson, probably his parents.
There is a Wm and a George, both buried in the Eastside Cemetery, Elkader George at the age of 21, Wm at the age of 23, they died four months apart in 1862.
