Funeral services for Earl Jewell, who passed away Wednesday morning at the Mercy hospital in Oelwein, were held at the Methodist church Friday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. James P. Gable, assisted by Rev. Thomas J. Elwick, a former pastor of Elberton. Interment was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
William Earl Jewell, son of Thomas and the late Eliza Jewell, was born at Darlington, Wis., on Nov. 23, 1897. For several years he has resided on a farm 4 1/2 miles southeast of Strawberry Point. His health failed several years ago and his sufferings at times were great, but he endured them with patience. Surviving are the father and three sisters and three brothers: Mrs. Adeline Sincock of Shellsburg, Ill., Edith Jewell, Della Jewell and Albert Jewell, at home, Johnnie Jewell of Strawberry Point, and Ray Jewell of Park Rapids, Minn.
