Mrs. Anna Lembke died at Finley hospital, Dubuque, September 16, 1935. The deceased, though she had been in failing health for some time, was not thought to be in any immediate danger. Her death therefore, was not only a shock to her friends but also a severe shock to her immediate family.

Mrs. Lembke was born June 17, 1879, in Anklom, Pommern, Germany, the daughter of John and Alvina Uecker, and at the time of her death, reached the age of 56 years, 2 months and 26 days.

Mrs. Lembke came to America with her parents in the year, 1883. Her parents settled at Clayton Center and the deceased has resided in this community ever since.

On February 19, 1903, she was united in marriage with George Lembke who survives her. In the same year they moved to a farm four miles east of Elkader where she and her husband spent their entire married life. To this union four children were born who mourn her departure. These are Elmer of Elgin, and Leroy, Lester and Florence, at home. One brother, Charles Uecker, preceded her in death. Surviving also are two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Meyer of Numica, Mich., Mrs. Hattie Cords of Clayton, and one brother, Frank Uecker, of Marshall, Minn.

Besides the above named husband, children, sisters and brother, she leaves to mourn, one grandson and many other relatives and friends.

The deceased was a hard-working faithful wife and mother and friend to many.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Paul Kitterer at 1:30 at the home and 2:00 p.m. at the church, after which the deceased was laid to rest in the East Side cemetery.

The pallbearers, who were nephews of the deceased, were Raymond Cords, Alfred Meyer, Paul Sargeant, Alvin Lamker, Lawrence Glawe and Will Lamker.

Those from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Meyer and son, Alfred, of Nunica, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Uecker and sons, Francis, John and Clarence, of Marshall, Minn.; Mrs. Charles Uecker and son, Bernard, of Delmont, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Weitchman and son, Tom, of Wayne, S. Dak.

(Note: The place name Numica/Nunica, Mich., was spelled both ways in the article.)
