Clayton County Register, Thur., 5 Sept. 1935.

Charles Staebler, for many years a resident of Mason City, died there last Friday, August 30th, of cerebral hemorrhage.

Services were held there last Monday morning after which the body was brought here for burial in the East Side cemetery.

The deceased was born in New York City, April 25, 1865. He was united in marriage about 40 years ago with Mary Hamman, sister of Mrs. Wm. Heitkamp Sr., of this place.

He learned his trade as blacksmith here with the late Chas. Schoch and for a time operated a shop of his own at Osborne. From there he removed to Portland, near Mason City, later going to Mason City to make his home. While there he was employed by both the Great Western and the Milwaukee roads.
