Clayton County Register, Thur., 28 Mar. 1935.

Carl Ludwig Fuelling, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerhardt Fuelling, was born on December 7, 1853, at Bohmte Amt Wittlage, Koenigreich, Hanover, Germany.

In early infancy Mr. Fuelling was brought to holy baptism and there by made a child of God. In 1867 he was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Arenshorst, near Bohm_e, and by the same Pastor Franke, who had in infancy baptized him.

During the war time of 1870 his father died. In the fall of the same year, his mother, together with her six children, immigrated to America. She landed on the 22nd of November on the farm of Fred Fullgraf in Farmersburg township, where she was graciously taken in by relatives. Here Mr. Fuelling hired out as farm helper son (soon ?) after they arrived, and worked three years. In 1872 Mr. Fullgraf died. On May 8, 1873, Mr. Fuelling married Mrs. Fullgraf, and together they lived 25 years on this same farm. In the year 1898 they retired, moving to Farmersburg. After ten years in town and on the 10th of March, 1908, Mrs. Fuelling died. Thus ended 34 years of happy and blessed married life. This union was childless.

On April 29, 1909, Mr. Fuelling was married to Miss Louisa Weagman. Together they lived in his home in Farmersburg until the fall of 1933, when they moved out on the farm with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fuelling. Here on April 2, 1934, his wife died. Also, this marriage was without children. In the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Fuelling, although he now was all alone, he found a good home and care and comfort in the evening of his life.

Carl Ludwig Fuelling interested himself in problems of general welfare. He was one of the founders of St. John's church, being interested in its growth. He also was one of the founders of our town as a corporation, and served it for 13 1/2 years as councilman.

Mr. Fuelling is the last of his family, his brothers and sisters, Clara Luebker, Henriette Stueckfort, Louisa Gelermann, Julianna Bock, Ernest Fuelling and Wm. Fuelling, having preceded him in death.

Mr. Fuelling was permitted to reach the ripe old age of 81 years, three months and twelve days. His death on March 19th, at 11 o'clock in the morning, was caused by pneumonia and old age.

He leaves to mourn a host of relatives and friends.
