In the passing of Mrs. Roy Hines, the community loses a dearly beloved and respected citizen, one who has given her life to serve her entire family. Mrs. Hines lived an active life. Her health being poor for a number of years, on April 26th she was stricken with a stroke of apoplexy, which was the cause of her death. She always lived a Christian life, being a member of the Pleasant Grove church.
Olive May Collins, daughter of E. R. and Laura Collins, was born at Monona, Iowa, on March 19, 1874, and passed away at her home Sunday morning, May 12, 1935, at the age of 61 years, one month and 23 days. She was educated at Monona high school. After her graduation she taught for four years. On Feb. 10, 1893, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Hines at Prairie du Chien, Wis. One daughter was born to this union, Floy, now Mrs. Sol Childers. She is survived by a loving husband, daughter and aged mother, two sisters, Mrs. Mila Sargent, Independence, Mo., and Mrs. Sylvia Tapper, of Minneapolis, Minn. Her father preceded her in death, also a brother and a sister. She also leaves one grandson, Vallie Childers. The funeral services were held at Pleasant Grove church, May 14th, the Rev. F. E. Damm of Elkport officiating. The casket bearers were six of her neighbors, D. McTaggart, P. Wolfe, E. Carnicle, M. Alderson, J. Olinger and E. Kellogg.
