Guttenberg: Mrs. Joseph L. Schmidt (nee Cecelia Wolter) of North Buena Vista, formerly a local resident, passed away at Mercy hospital at Dubuque on last Thursday at the age of 39 years, two months and 22 days, following a ten months illness. Mrs. Schmidt was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, on November 22, 1895, later going to North Buena Vista with her parents to reside, where the remainder of her ambitions and true Christian life was spent. She was married at North Buena Vista to Joseph L. Schmidt on February 3, 1913. She was a faithful member of the Catholic church. Her untimely death is deeply mourned by her husband, nine children, Arnold, Henry, Alois and the Misses Loretta, Louise, Cecelia, Julia, and Helen Schmidt of North Buena Vista and Mrs. Al Junk of near Clayton; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wolter of North Buena Vista; three brothers,, Raymond and Henry Wolter of Dubuque, and Harold Wolter of Guttenberg; two sisters, Mrs. George Kamm and Miss Bertha Wolter of North Buena Vista; and many other relatives and friends, all of whom will sadly miss this good and true woman. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Father John Smith at the Immaculate Conception church at North Buena Vista on Monday morning with interment in the Catholic cemetery there. The funeral was attended by many relatives and friends from far and near. The family has the sympathy of all in the community.
