Ora M. Leonard was born in Garnavillo March 14, 1877. Some time during her childhood she and her mother moved to Elkader. Here she was married to Fred Leonard on March 6, 1895. They lived on a farm until 1913, when they returned to Elkader.
Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Leonard, Inez and Grace, and Ray who died in January, 1946.
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard lived in Elkader for 33 years after they left the farm. In 1946 they went to Huron, S.D., to be near their children. After a lingering illness Mrs. Leonard died July 10, 1949, in St. John's hospital there.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Fred Geyer and Grace Leonard; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mrs. Sam Boots. Two other sisters, Mrs. Granas and Mrs. Bertha Hubbard, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held in Huron, S.D., from the Welter chapel, conducted by the Rev. Hubert Ketelle, D.D., pastor emeritus of the Presbyterian church of Huron, and she was buried in the family plot in the cemetery at Iroquois, S.D., where her sister, Mrs. Granas, lies.
