Harry J. Stoeffler, 85, of Gutteberg passed away at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's Church at 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, with Msgr. Donald Sweeney officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Stoeffler, Jim Krapfl, Tom Tujetsch, Duwane Matt, Mike Tujetsch and Gene Tujetsch.
The scripture wake service was held at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb 9, at Tuecke Funeral Home.
Harry Stoeffler, the son of Louis and Mary Biederman Stoeffler, was born Jan 9, 1893, in Guttenberg. He married Hilda Fassbinder on June 14, 1917, at St. Mary's Church. They were in the meat and grocery business in Guttenberg for many years and owned Stoeffler's Meat Market. Mrs. Stoeffler died Jan. 9, 1971.
He is survived by one son, LaVern of Garber; two daughters, Mrs. Jerome (Adele) Tujetsch of Guttenberg, and Miss Norma Stoeffler of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Florence Fukey of Guttenberg.
