The Guttenberg Press, Nov. 11, 1920

William L. Kords, whose death was mentioned in last week's Guttenberg Press, was born at Guttenberg, Iowa, on November 21, 1868, and died at Crookston, Minnesota, on Tuesday Morning, November 2, 1920, at 8:15 o'clock, at the age of 51 years.

He grew to manhood here, and for a number of years was successfully engaged in business here. He was married at Guttenberg to Miss Hattie Minger, who preceded him in death about 11 years ago. On December 11, 1911, he was again married at Chicago, Illinois, to Miss Clara J. Lauer, of that place.

He had been in poor health for some time, but had hopes for recovery until death called him to the other World. He was a patient sufferer, and all that loving hands could do and medical knowledge could suggest was done for him to ward off death, but all to no avail. A short time before his death he underwent an operation at a hospital at Crookston, Minn., from which he never recovered.

Most of his life was spent in Guttenberg. For a time he was also successfully engaged in business at Clayton. Several years ago he went to Crookston, Minn. with his family to reside, where he lived until his death. Mr. Kords was an ambitious man during his entire life, and doing kind acts for his family and friends was his greatest pleasure in life, which won him many friends, by whom he will not be forgotten.

His untimely death is deeply mourned by his wife, two sons, Willis Kords, of Alta Vista, Iowa, and Milo Kords, at home, one brother, Charles Kords, of Medeapolis, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. H. G. Jenkins, of Guttenberg, and many other relatives and friends, by whom he will be sadly missed.

The body was brought to Guttenberg for burial and funeral services were conducted by Attorney Chas. E. Scholz, of this city, at the home of Mrs. H. G. Jenkins on last Saturday afternoon. Interment was made in the City Cemetery.

The funeral was largely attended by relatives and friends from far and near, which showed that deceased was held in high regard by all who knew him.
