Elkader Register, Thur., 27 Mar. 1924.
After an illness of over four weeks, at his home near Garber, Earl Edwin Jennings, husband of Gertrude Jennings, passed away Tuesday March 18th at the age of 33 years and 14 days.
Earl Edwin Jennings was the son of Edwin C. and Lena Jennings and was born on March 4th, 1891. On January 18th, 1892, his loving mother died when Earl was still a baby. Since then he has lived on his father's farm almost continually. On January 29th, 1913, he was united in marriage with Gertrude Hansel. During the time of his sickness and suffering all that loving care and the best of medical attendance could do was done but to no avail. A loving husband, son and brother and a true friend to all has gone from our midst leaving behind the grief-stricken wife, his father Edwin C. Jennings, one brother Arthur, two sisters Mrs. Laura Corson of Littleport and Mrs. Mae Baker of Strawberry Point, and many other relatives and friends to mourn his demise. His mother who died January 18th, 1892, one sister, Jennie, who died June 20th, 1908, and one brother, Walter, who died in infancy, preceded him to the grave.
It is gratifying to those nearest and dearest to him to know that our friend Earl had a big heart, was generous to the fullest extent and left a record for the short space of time he was on this earth in that he had no enemies but good friends who appreciated his good qualities.
