Herman J. Schroeder Died Friday After Long Illness

BURIAL AT CERES
_______

Funeral services were held on Sunday for Herman J. Schroeder, 87, who died Friday following a long illness. The services were held from St. John’s Lutheran church in charge of Rev. W. F. Domres, pastor.

Burial was in the Ceres cemetery in charge of the Tuecke funeral home.

Mr. Schroeder was born July 10, 1862, in Jefferson township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schroeder. On February 4, 1887, he married Caroline Wehrkamp at Ceres and the couple made their home on a farm in the county.

Mr. Schroeder is survived by two children, Ben Schroeder of Guttenberg and Mrs. Clarence Morarend of Garnavillo. He also is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ida Rodenberg of Garnavillo, as well as three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, William and Albert, and a daughter, Ida. Mrs. Schroeder died in 1899.
