The funeral of Isaac Havens was held at the Congregational church last Sunday afternoon. Rev. A. S. Hock, pastor of the church, delivered an appropriate sermon after which Elkader Lodge No. 72, A.F. & A.M., took charge and H. D. Brown, W.M., conducted the solemn service of the order at the cemetery. Deceased was among the first officers of the lodge when it was instituted in 18__ (looks like 1853 or 1855).

The honorary pall bearers were R. E. Price, J. J. Kauffman, D. G. Griffith, J. H. Hill, H. W. Wilke and J. C. Stemmer. The active bearers being Jas. E. Corlett, V.T. Price, H. R. Carpenter, G. H. Schulte, Chas. Johnson and John Hempel.
