Our sympathy goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Berns, residing near National, for the loss of their three and a half year old son. The little one had been ailing for several days and Saturday Dr. Brownson, of Monona, was called. The disease had gotten well underway, however, and as it was a genuine case of diphtheria, the medicine was of little avail. Burial took place in the evening in the Garnavillo Catholic cemetery.
