Iva E. Martindale, age 95, of Oelwein, Iowa died Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein. Services were held Friday, March 31, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein with graveside service and burial at the Postville Cemetery in Postville, Iowa.

Iva was born September 28, 1921 in Marion Township, Clayton County, Iowa to Henry and Hannah (Gilbertson) Peterson. She married Donald Harris Martindale on June 3, 1951 at East Clermont Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on November 4, 2009. Iva graduated from Clermont High School in 1939. She attended Luther College in Decorah for a year and then Waldorf College where she graduated in 1945. She had worked at REC in Postville, Dr. Meehan Eye Clinic and Pines Motel in Postville and Knoploch Insurance in Oelwein. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein.

She is survived by two sons, Donald (Karen) Martindale of Monona, Iowa and Peter (Regina) Martindale of Oelwein, Iowa. There are two grandsons. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, a brother, Clarence (Lillian) Peterson, a sister, Pearl Peterson, and in-laws Ruth and Hilbert Larson and Louise and Gordon Stewart.
