Elkader Register, Thur., 7 June 1906. Elkport and Vicinity column.
Henry Voss, aged sixty-six years, died at his home east of Elkport Friday morning about 3:00 a.m. after a lingering illness following a surgical operation performed about two months ago, at which time one foot was amputated, but the relief hoped for was not obtained and finally death relieved him of his long suffering. Mr. Voss came to America in 1870 and was married two years later. He leaves a wife and seven children, five boys and two girls, all grown, to mourn his death. He was an industrious and frugal man and was able to lay up a competence sufficient to keep himself and wife comfortably during their declining years, but he did not live long to enjoy the fruits of his labor. The funeral was held at the Catholic church here Monday, at 11:00 a.m.
