Mrs. Elmer (Hanna Marie Sagen) Jensen

Mrs. Elmer Jensen, the former Hanna Marie Sagen, daughter of Christian Sagen and Synneve, nee Pederson, was born October 24, 1895, at Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. She was baptized into the Christian faith on December 22, 1895. When she was a child, her parents moved to Orfordville, Wisconsin where she was confirmed on June 10, 1910. In 1911, the family moved to northern Texas and in 1919, moved back to Wisconsin.

On March 24, 1929, she was united in marriage with Elmer Jensen at Rockford, Illinois. One child was born to this union. After their marriage, the couple settled at Gruver, Texas, where they lived until 1954. In 1954, they returned to Wisconsin, living at Orfordville, and in 1960 they moved to Luana. She was a member of St. John ALCW, Luana.

She had been in ill health for the last six months and had been a patient at the Oakdale Sanatorium (sic). She passed away there on Monday morning at the age of 70 years, eight months and 17 days.

Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Elvera Mae (Mrs. Harold Doerring), Luana; one sister, Mrs. Clara Leaver, Janesville, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were six brothers: Peter, Neils, Gustav, Carl, Alfred and Herman; and four sisters: Elise, Ida, Julia and Mathilda.

Funeral services were held from St. John Lutheran Church,*

*it is possible there was more to this obit as it is a comma after Church but there is no more obit on the scrapbook page. It was probably just the word, Luana.

Postville Herald newspaper clipping, not dated, from my mother's obituary collection.
